Model horses is a fun world that can be full of surprises and excitement! Although I only collected for the majority of my time being involved with model horses, the last few years (after "discovering" the hobby and learning others, including many addults, love these little guys as well), I have learned just how much more there is to Model horses other than they look great sitting on shelfs! (grin) I've been discovering the world of model horse showing, remaking, and miniature work as well as clubs and the many wonderful people involved!
Although my first love in this hobby is collecting "OF" (Original Finish) Breyer Horses, I have also learned how much fun it can be competing in both "photo" and "Live" shows! Feel free to check out my newest OFs! I enjoy learning how to remake and repaint models as well. I work on them whenever I get time so there's no telling when there will be new customized horses from me! This part of the hobby has proven to be extremely rewarding as well as relaxing and is a great way to meet others!
As if all that wasn't enough, I'm getting back into graphic arts in a big way! I'm in the process of putting together a Stone model horse Reference Book!!! It's still in progress but the first edition will hopefully be available before too long! Other offerings are calendars! Email me for more information!
"Autumn Knight"
OFs (Original Finish) models are my first love of the hobby. I've been collecting Breyers for many years and received my first one on Christmas '73. Although I don't have his picture, the matte Alabaster Fighting Stallion still stands proudly as the "King" of my herd. He's got some "battle scars" and is missing the tips of his ears but I wouldn't part with him for anything.
Since he came to stay my "herd" has grown continuously along with my enjoyment and awareness of the hobby. At this point I still collect the OFs Breyers (primarily Traditional scale but those Stablemates are taking over!) but am also getting a few of the (Peter) Stone Horses! While I have a few odds and ends of other makes, these are the ones I prefer and love. The following are links (click on the buttons. Note: Blue buttons have no page yet!) to my various OF pages:

Quite a few years ago now, in the early '90s before I really discovered what the hobby was about (other than my own personal collection!) I had given thought of what to do with damaged horses that I'd replaced for my collection. I had heard/read that people actually repaint and remake them! (CM or Customize now) Armed with an airbrush I set out to paint one of my replaced horses that had been designated as a "body". Needless to say, after playing around with it for a few years and doing about 1-2 horses a year, I was hooked! And around '95 I started seriously concentrating on painting. I upgraded my airbrush to a double action, and with some very helpful critiques I set out to improve and paint up a storm! Unfortunately, due to the various bumps and curves life has thrown at me, my painting is on hold. I miss doing it but am anxious for the day that the airbrush can come out of it's box and start working once again. Below are links (click on the button) to my various CM (customizing) pages as well as some other pages! Hope you enjoy them!

OK, so collecting and painting isn't enough. I *had* to goof around with making tack too! Actually, this goes way back to when I first started getting the horses. Who as a kid with toy horses *didn't* try to make halters and bridles out of rubber bands? Then progress to yarn? Well, I was given a leather working kit pretty quick and soon graduated from the rubber bands and yarn to leather lace! This is something that while I enjoyed, I never really got serious about it. Until now. I still haven't done much but I do find it a nice change when I can't really paint or work with the horses themselves. Below are links (click on the buttons) to the various kinds of tack that I'm working on. Please let me know what you think or if you have any helpful comments as I'm *still* trying to get tack straight in my head! (OK, these sections are *very* small at this time!)
